Awareness – Part 1: Mental awareness

The mind, as the objective part of ourselves, receives intuitive information and then analytically and logically attempts to organize our experiences. The mental awareness gathers an overview, sees the general structures, and assists us in establishing a framework for our values and expectations about our life. We often think of this awareness as the Dreamer, which provides us with our vision. Because the mental awareness does not concern itself with the limitations of the physical awareness or with the feelings and connections of the social awareness, it can float freely upward above the forms and feelings.

Stay awake, aware, and alert and strive to lead a well-tempered life – a life that possesses both hardiness and flexibility.  The good news is that once you are awake, it’s hard to go to sleep again, but if you do, do it on purpose and prepare yourself for the consequences.
